Dalby forest social ride

Hosted by SheRides Ambassador Hayley 🫶

Scroll down to sign up!

What to Expect:

This is a social ride for anyone above beginner level, but it’s worth noting that Dalby is known for being more on the technical side and most of their trails are red graded, so be aware that this is not a ride suitable for absolute beginners- riders must be comfortable in tackling red trails; we will meet in the spot below, get acquainted and head out.

When warm and ready we will check out some of the trails, then we can take it from there; please remember that lots of the trails at this centre are on the more technical side and require some fitness.

We will have a ‘lunch break’ of sorts in the middle of the day where we can grab some food from the wonderful Courtyard Cafe with an exclusive 10% discount for SheRides riders.

It’s a super loose structure; we won’t be rushing to get done, we won’t be pushing to tick off features- the aim is to have fun and ride bikes!

No pressure, just good times!

Where to Meet Us:

We will be ready and waiting just outside the Dalby Forest Cycle Hub at 09:45 ready to ride for 10 am (we’re not going to hang around too long, so try to be on time so you don’t miss the ride).

Hayley will be there wearing a top with the SheRides logo on, so be sure to make yourself known.

The What3Words for our meeting spot:

///coquillette.sociaux.fructueuse

What Should you Bring?:

It’s super important to note that we will not ride with anyone who is not wearing a helmet!

Other than that, the protective gear that you bring is up to you- we normally ride with knee pads and maybe gloves, depending on the conditions. You’ll also need a bike that is trail suitable and safe, and some water to keep you going.

It is possible to hire a bike from the Cycle Hub bike shop, but we strongly recommend that you do it well in advance if that’s your plan.

What Will it Cost?

The ride itself is totally free, we won’t be charging you anything for our company.

The Dalby Forest carpark is a paid carpark, and the prices are as follows:

  • Up to 4 hours: £12

  • Over 4 hours: £15

It’s totally up to you how long you stay for but getting the full day means we don’t have time restraints and the money goes to maintaining the trails- it’s a win, win.

Other than that, having some money spare for a bit of lunch and a coffee is a great idea, although you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want to- feel free to bring your own pack lunch and snacks, as well as plenty of water.

Extra Info:

Here is the link to the Dalby Forest website:

https://www.forestryengland.uk/dalby-forest/cycling-and-mountain-biking-trails

A huge thank you goes out to the fantastic Courtyard Cafe who have very kindly supported our riders with an exclusive 10% discount on food and drinks.

And a quick disclaimer from us, please do take a look:

This is NOT a guided ride and there will be no coaching, we’re simply meeting you at the trail head to make some friends, push each other as a group, and get women on the trails. We do not accept any responsibility / liability for any accidents, and we will refuse to ride with anyone who arrives without the correct safety equipment or an unsafe bike. All riders must sign up in order to ride and in doing so you are agreeing to these terms. All riders must be ages 18 or above.

What to Expect:

This is a social ride for anyone above beginner level and it’s worth noting that we will not necessarily stick to the easiest trails on the hill, we will explore whatever the group wants to ride- but you'll never be pressured to do something you don't want to do.

We will meet in the spot listed below, get acquainted and head out for a bit of a warm up. When warm and ready, we’ll head up and check out some of the trails, then we can take it from there.

Rogate is famed for its short but sweet DH trails and great jumps so we will have a lot of fun exploring the hill and Izzy is a knowledgable and encouraging group leader.

We will have a ‘lunch break’ of sorts in the middle of the day where we can grab some food from our cars or eat a packed lunch- please note that there is no cafe here and the nearest shop is a 10 minute drive so come prepared.

After lunch we can decide if we want to keep shredding or call it a day, you can always finish up whenever you need to.

It’s a super loose structure; we won’t be rushing to get done, we won’t be pushing to tick off features, and we won’t be forcing anyone to ride anything they aren’t comfortable with- the aim is to have fun and ride bikes!

No pressure, just good times!

Where to Meet Us:

We will be ready and waiting in the Rogate Car Park by the cabin at 09:45, ready to ride for 10 am (we’re not going to hang around too long, so try to be on time so you don’t miss the ride).

Izzy will be there waiting for everyone, so be sure to make yourself known.

Other than that, the protective gear that you bring is up to you- we normally ride with knee / elbow pads and maybe gloves, depending on the conditions. You’ll also need a bike that is trail suitable, safe and in working order so we can avoid repairs at the start of the day.

Feel free to bring snack and whatever else you usually bring on a ride, and don’t forget your water!

What Will it Cost?

The ride itself is totally free, we won’t be charging you anything for our company but you do have to pay in order to ride at Rogate.

Please download the ‘B1KE’ app and become a free member, then buy a day ticket pass.

A day pass costs £15 for an adult and allows you to ride between 9:30am and 6pm.

If you don’t do this step you won’t be able to ride- there is an online waiver that must be signed and the signal at Rogate is terrible. Please do this in advance to avoid delays!

We will have the entire day to ride, but there is no pressure at all if you need to dip out at any point. Our rides normally last around 5 hours or so, but the needs of the group will be taken into account and we are more than happy to go for longer!

It’s a super loose structure; we won’t be rushing to get done, we won’t be pushing to tick off features- the aim is to have fun and ride bikes!

No pressure, just good times!

Where to Meet Us:

We will be ready and waiting just outside the cafe near the carpark at 09:45, ready to ride at 10:00 (we’re not going to hang around too long, so try to be on time so you don’t miss the ride). If you fancy a coffee before the ride, do arrive early so you’re ready to go at 10am.

Emma will be there ready and waiting, so be sure to make yourself known to her.

The What3Words for our meeting spot:

///piper.merit.stand

As this ride is taking place in November we would strongly recommend a rain jacket and riding pants so you have a better chance of staying warm and dry!

If you’re going to hire a bike for the day be sure to do it well in advance of the ride.

What Will it Cost?

The ride itself is totally free, we won’t be charging you anything for our company.

Amazingly, Leeds Urban Bike Park is also free! We can’t believe it either.

We would strongly recommend you donate some money once you’ve ridden to help support this incredible facility, but it’s up to you.

Other than that, having some money spare for a bit of lunch and a coffee is great idea although you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want to- feel free to bring your own pack lunch and snacks, as well as plenty of water.

Extra Info:

Here is the link to the Leeds Urban Bike Park website, take a look and leave a donation:

https://www.leedsurbanbikepark.com

And a quick disclaimer from us, please do take a look:

This is NOT a guided ride and there will be no coaching, we’re simply meeting you at the trail head to make some friends, push each other as a group, and get women on the trails. We do not accept any responsibility / liability for any accidents, and we will refuse to ride with anyone who arrives without the correct safety equipment or an unsafe bike. All riders must sign up in order to ride and in doing so you are agreeing to these terms. All riders must be ages 18 or above.

  • Until 4pm: £10

  • After 4pm: £5

It’s totally up to you how long you stay for but getting the full day means we don’t have time restraints and the money goes to maintaining the trails- it’s a win, win.

Other than that, having some money spare for a bit of lunch and a coffee is a great idea, although you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want to- feel free to bring your own pack lunch and snacks, as well as plenty of water.

When warm and ready we will check out some of the trails, then we can take it from there; please remember that lots of the trails at the this centre are on the more technical side and require some fitness.
