Heather
Hi, I’m Heather, the founder of SheRides Female Ride Collective. I started riding in the summer of 2020 during lockdown, where very fortunately, I was in Canada. After one run I was hooked and the rest is history.
Tom
Hello! I’m Tom, I’ve been travelling the world with Heather for a decade and mountain biking since I was a boy. My main role with SheRides is helping with the behind the scenes stuff, and supporting Heather wherever she needs it.
Why I Started SheRides
I started SheRides because I only ever rode with guys; I got into the sport because of my parter, Tom, and since we were traveling a lot in Canada, we tended to just ride with each other- which was awesome. But I’d see groups of women on the trails together in Canada and feel like I was missing out. Since coming back to the UK, I noticed there seemed to be a distinct lack of women hitting the trails together and I thought that the playing field needed levelling a bit.
Since starting this collective, I’ve noticed that riding with like-minded women naturally promotes progression, builds confidence and helps us girls shake off our self doubt.
Let’s hit some trails together and we can start riding our bikes like the shredders we are!
More than just social rides
In addition to getting people riding together I want to create a community of strong, confident female riders.
I’ve received so many messages from women saying that they’d love to attend one of our social rides, but that they’re too worried about their fitness levels to ride with others.
I’m a certified personal trainer (6 years+ qualified), and I’ve worked all over the world training men and women, helping them achieve their goals in both sports specific training, and general fitness. So combining my love of fitness and MTB was a natural next step, and our ‘Get Bike Fit’ MTB specific fitness programmes for women were born.
