Cwmcarn Forest, Caerphilly

Sat 29th June | Cwmcarn Social Ride

What to expect:

This is a social ride for anyone above beginner level, but Cwmcarn is known for being more on the technical side and most of their trails are red graded, so be aware that this is not a ride suitable for absolute beginners- riders must be comfortable in tackling red trails; we will meet just outside the PS Cycles bike shop in the Cwmcarn Forest Parking car park, get acquainted and head to the pump track for a warm up.

When warm and ready, we will head up and check out some of the downhill trails starting with the blue ‘Pwca’, then we can take it from there; please remember that most of the trails at the this centre are red graded.

We will have a ‘lunch break’ of sorts in the middle of the day where we can head into town or eat packed lunch.

It’s a super loose structure, we won’t be rushing to get done, we won’t be pushing to tick off features; the aim is to have fun and ride bikes! No pressure, just good times!

Where to Meet Us:

We will be ready and waiting just outside PS Cycles at 10 am (we’re not going to hang around too long, so try to be on time so you don’t miss the ride).

Heather will be there wearing a black long-sleeve top with the SheRides logo on, so be sure to make yourself known.

What Should you Bring?:

It’s super important to note that we will not ride with anyone who is not wearing a helmet!

Other than that, the protective gear that you bring is up to you- we normally ride with knee pads and maybe gloves, depending on the conditions. You’ll also need a bike that is trail suitable and safe, and some water to keep you going.

It is possible to hire a bike from the PS Cycles shop, but we strongly recommend that you do it well in advance if that’s your plan.

What Will it Cost?

The ride itself is totally free, we won’t be charging you anything for our company.

The Cwmcarn Forest carpark is paid a paid carpark, and the prices are as follows:

-2 Hours: £1.00

-All Day: £3.00

We would recommend a minimum of 2 hours, but it’s totally up to you. We will be getting the full day so we don’t have time restraints and the money goes to maintaining the trails- it’s a win, win.

Other than that, having some money spare for a bit of lunch and a coffee is great idea, although you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want to- feel free to bring your own pack lunch and snacks, as well as plenty of water.

And a quick disclaimer from us, please do take a look:

This is NOT a guided ride and there will be no coaching, we’re simply meeting you at the trail head to make some friends, push each other as a group, and get women on the trails. We do not accept any responsibility / liability for any accidents, and we will refuse to ride with anyone who arrives without the correct safety equipment or an unsafe bike. All riders must sign up in order to ride and in doing so you are agreeing to these terms. All riders must be ages 18 or above.

Our social rides are totally free, but if you love what we are doing or enjoyed your ride, then your support would allow us to keep doing this!

If you want to buy us a coffee then click the link below- we really appreciate your help, and see you on the next one!
