Grizedale Forest Christmas Social Ride

Hosted by SheRides ambassador Lauren 🫶

Scroll down to sign up!

What to Expect:

This is a social ride for anyone above beginner level, Grizedale Forest offers superb variation but this social ride will cover a wide range of trails. This is not a ride suitable for absolute beginners- riders must be comfortable in tackling blue and red trails comfortably.

We will meet in the spot below, get acquainted and head out for the day (or as long as you fancy!).

Once we are warm and ready we will get going at a chill pace, then we can take it from there; remember that the trails here are natural and contain a wide variety of features.

We will have a ‘lunch break’ of sorts in the middle of the day where we can grab some food and a hot drink from one of the wonderful onsite cafes, located on site.

It’s a super loose structure; we won’t be rushing to get done, we won’t be pushing to tick off features- the aim is to have fun, support each other and ride bikes as a group!

No pressure, just good times!

Where to Meet Us:

Lauren will be ready and waiting just outside the Grizedale Visitor Centre at 09:45 ready to ride for 10 am (we’re not going to hang around too long, so try to be on time so you don’t miss the ride).

You can park in a number of carparks, but the one we recommend is the Main Visitor Centre carpark, as this is where the meeting point is- plus it’s cafe adjacent!

Lauren will be there so make yourself known to her and get acquainted.

What Should you Bring?:

It’s super important to note that we will not ride with anyone who is not wearing a helmet!

Other than that, the protective gear that you bring is up to you- we normally ride with knee pads and maybe gloves, depending on the conditions. You’ll also need a bike that is trail suitable and safe, and some water to keep you going.

It is possible to hire bikes on site, but we strongly recommend that you do it well in advance if that’s your plan.

What Will it Cost?

The ride itself is totally free, we won’t be charging you anything for our company.

The Grizedale main carpark is a paid carpark, and the prices are as follows:

  • Up to 20 minutes: No charge

  • First hour: £2.60

  • Additional time: £0.55 per 15 minutes

  • All day maximum charge: £10

  • Members: No action required

It’s totally up to you how long you stay for but getting the full day means we don’t have time restraints and the money goes to maintaining the trails- it’s a win, win.

Other than that, having some money spare for a bit of lunch and a coffee is a great idea, although you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want to- feel free to bring your own pack lunch and snacks, as well as plenty of water.

And here is a quick disclaimer from us, please do take a look:

This is NOT a guided ride and there will be no coaching, we’re simply meeting you at the trail head to make some friends, push each other as a group, and get women on the trails. We do not accept any responsibility / liability for any accidents, and we will refuse to ride with anyone who arrives without the correct safety equipment or an unsafe bike. All riders must sign up in order to ride and in doing so you are agreeing to these terms. All riders must be ages 18 or above.

Love what we do?

Our social rides are totally free so if you love what we are doing, or enjoyed your ride, then your support would allow us to keep doing great things!
